One responsibility that the TGC program tasked us with was to create and keep a travel blog of our international field experience. This task was intimidating but ultimately extremely rewarding. The first intimidating aspect was the technological--to peruse and choose from the various platforms that are out there was somewhat daunting. I had to confront a feeling that "Blogs are something that other people do" and explore within myself what that was about and what that meant. The next aspect of this blogging experience was the writing itself, and I discovered anew some things I have vaguely realized before. These are, variously, that the more you write, the more you have to say; that you cannot wait to be ready or for the mood to strike, to write--just do it. And that, most importantly, to write is to think on the page and to discover newly for yourself what you think, and sometimes, if you are very lucky, who you are.
